Bird with Mohawk

It was really windy here, and I saw this little bird who didn't mind risking having a "bad hair day" to get some seed from our deck.
He decided to just sit IN the dish to eat:
And, to give us a back view of his Mohawk:

He looked like a punk rocker:

And how cool is this? He turned to show us the back view, and he definitely had A LAYERED Mohawk!!:

I am getting my hair done today...I am thinking of bringing these photos to see if they can copy it. What do you think? Paris Hilton may be a trendsetter, but not as much as this little guy!!

Things that Start with a B...

Today, is a hodgepodge of left over photos...
that start with a B...

Bee Balm blossoms,
and of course,
butterflies.

I love the shape of the bee balm petals and base...the base reminds me of a little pineapple!~:

A whole bush full of blossoms!:

A bee balm BUD:

The center looks like a firework!:

We were out in the woods one day and these butterflies were all OVER the roads!:

They were just dancing about each other:

May your day today be Beeee-EAUTIFUL too!

Wasn't that a FANTASTIC selection of bird photos????
WOW!
For those of you that don't take any kind of wildlife photos, please know that catching birds is one of the hardest photos to get. Not only are they skiddish, but it is hard to get a clear shot or a closeup shot of them.  I admire every-one-of-you-that-entered's talent!
Thank you so much for entering!!

If you entered the July contest, and I accidentally forgot to include your entry photo in this blogpost, please notify me IMMEDIATELY so I can repost this blogpost. It happens, as much as I try to get everybody that sent me an entry included each month.  If I don't hear from you by Friday, the contest will stand "as is". Thanks.

Lakes, Ponds, Rivers, or Creeks!!

Get out there and find some water, people! It's hot out there and it will make you feel better, too.

Send me your photo no later than midnight on August 30, 2011,

Butterflies and Flowers....

I bought this rustic garden moose at a yard sale
and stuck it in one of my gardens.

I was tickled one day to look off my porch and see a goldfinch
on its back:

Nothing like baby birds!
This one is a baby Grackle:

A lupine, bent from the rain and wind:

Bleeding hearts:

A bee on an unknown blooming branch:

A butterfly on lilacs:

A columbine full of seed pods:

Another columbine. I  just love their shape, their tendrils:

I think they call this hawkweed?:

There is just something about flowers and butterflies
that makes me never want to waste a single day in the summer...
how about you?

This and That from June...

In Spring and summer, there are certain things that create emotion.

I don't know what makes us so melancholy in the Spring and summer.

It just happens.

For instance, THIS fellow makes me both smile and get angry at the same time.
(He eats up all my bird seed, ALL DAY LONG!!):

And this little fluffy chipping sparrow twittering on the branches
just makes me happy:

The eloquence of a Columbine, makes me wonder about the miracles of Nature:

This was one of the farm dogs at the Alpaca farm I recently visited.
His sad, loyal eyes makes me want a dog again. Longing.
Really bad.
But I can't....I just can't:

A goldfinch in flight
just takes my breath away:

And seeing bright yellow in the trees after a barren, cold winter lifts my spirits up
more than I can describe:

And?
If he is FLUFFY??....
Well, it makes me darn right GIDDY:

The bright greens of hosta leaves and the delicate blue forget-me-nots
make me smile in wonder:

Finding a garden moose for my garden at a rummage sale for $4.00??
Practically DRUNK with joy!:

And spying a hummingbird aiming for spring blossoms?
Thankful to the angels in heaven:

May your day be full of this season's emotions....
and gratefulness to Mother Nature
for the joy the seasons brings us.
