Lake, Birds and Sunsets: Part One

The last two days, we have had gorgeous, warm, balmy 80 degree weather with a soft breeze.

When we get those kind of days in the U.P., most people try to drop everything and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.

Those of us that live on lakes, get out on our boats, pontoons, wave runners and ride or fish and enjoy the lake as long as we can.

So, that's exactly what we did.

We grabbed our fishing poles, suntan lotion and soda pop and off we went.

It was as beautiful of a day as we hoped it would be.

Come on the day trip with us, won't you?:

Here is a view of our Lake Michigamme from the boat:

We spotted geese and ducks all over the lake. They must have been enjoying the day as much as we were!:

A shot of the many islands on our lake. We have 97 miles of shoreline to cruise, so every where you ride, you get wonderful panoramic views like this one:

We rode in for dinner and then got out again to catch the sunset.
We weren't disappointed:

It was turning the water orange!:

Wow! This looks like Africa, not Michigan!:

Suddenly, I had the urge to drink orange soda pop:

Wait!
I forgot to tell you the most exciting part of the day!!
When the sun was just starting to set, we were on the far side of one of the bigger islands, so as we turned the boat around to head toward home....
Here
is
what
we saw.....

"Is it???...", I asked my husband.
"I think so...." he answered
It WAS.
It was a huge EAGLE flying close to us!!:

He landed on a tall tree on the big island.
Of course I made my husband drive the boat real close to the tree and strained my telescopic feature of my camera to the limit to get this shot of him:

Isn't he glorious?
I also got one more shot of him, but it was getting darker by the minute:

That's when the orange sunset happened (as in the photos above).
What a day!!!
Sunshine, fresh air, ducks, fishing (we caught a bunch of rock bass), an eagle sighting
and
the wonderful sunset!!
Here is the last of the sun setting on the horizon:

I am blessed.

Duck, duck, goose.....

When we went out on the lake for our first ride the other day in our boat, we saw a duck and a big blended family of geese and their new family of babies (now older babies!).

First this guy was swimming pretty far away from us...I couldn't get a closer shot, he flew away!
Is it possibly a loon? He wasn't making loon calls, so I wasn't sure???:

Here is that LARGE family of geese we saw on one of the cabins' lawn:

Here they are, a little closer:

Look how big the babies have gotten!:

Still fuzzy though, aren't they?:

Here's Mom and Dad taking a little "alone time" at the edge of the lake while the teenagers were frolicking on the lawn:

Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil and Do No Evil are here on the lawn, looking for trouble. (I can just tell!):

When they finally realized I was taking their pictures, the parents gathered the family together to head down the shore. "Dang those humans!" I heard the Mother honk to her husband:

"Are we there yet?" the youngin's were asking......

We always enjoy seeing them and the many ducks we have living around the lake.
I think the next time we see them, they won't be traveling together as a family though...they will have "left the nest" and out living in apartments in the city, all on their own. (Occassionally asking Mom and Dad to send a couple of ducks. I mean bucks...................................).
