The name may be Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week, but that doesn't mean Indio and La Quinta restaurants won't be trying to entice diners.
In fact, one eatery in Indio — Jackalope Ranch — and nine in La Quinta will be participating in the event that encourages locals to “eat, see and stay” with specially priced packages over 10 days — today through June 10.
“The expectations I have for Restaurant Week are that we introduce new guests to our restaurant but also re-introduce our restaurant to the guests that have been here but haven't been back for a while,” Chef Brent Pollock of Jackalope Ranch in Indio said.
“Normally, this is a slow time of the year, so Restaurant Week gives us a boost from locals and provides an extra incentive to visit the desert,” said Robert Gary, managing partner of La Quinta Baking Company. “Our evening business jumps about 40 percent during this week. I know people who visit as many restaurants as they can during this promotion. It's a perk for customers, a boost for restaurateurs and another wonderful advantage of living in the desert.”
This year, Restaurant Week has expanded to include more than a dozen hotels and attractions.
“Restaurant Week is the pinnacle of dining excellence — when supreme service, provocative food and great price points come together,” said Juliana Copley, co-owner of Copley's on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs and a member of the Palm Springs restaurant association. “There is no better time than Restaurant Week for food enthusiasts to explore the culinary delights of the desert.”
Diners will be able to enjoy a $24 or $36 three-course menu at any of the participating restaurants.
Pollock will offer five entries priced at $36. They include crispy skin striped bass, smoked quail, cavatelli pasta, barbecue pork belly and sirloin steak.
Among the dessert offerings are a warm banana sundae, strawberry rhubarb crisp or fig strudel.
